NSFAS Application 2025 Opening Date

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), which provides South African students with the opportunity to follow their aspirations without barriers to finance, is getting ready for the 2025 application season. The National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is currently open for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Nsfas online application opening date for the 2025 study season begins on the 21st of November 2024 and closes on the 31st of January 2025. When does the NSFAS Application 2025 Open for Applications?

Students are eagerly awaiting the official release of the NSFAS Application 2025 starting date. Although specifics may differ, NSFAS applications have opened from November 21, 2024, to January 31, 2025.

What is NSFAS?

NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.

What Does The 2025 Nsfas Bursaries Cover

The 2025 Nsfas funds can be used to pay for the following:

NSFAS will cover your costs for:

 Accommodation
 Living allowance
Learning material allowance
 Personal care allowance

UNISA students will receive funding for:

 Tuition
 Books (subject to the number of modules registered)
 Personal care allowance

Eligible students with a disability will receive funding for:

 Assistive Devices
 Meals
 Tuition
 Transport
 Tuition
 Human Support
 Accommodation

Who is Eligible For Nsfas 2025-2026

If you are a citizen of South Africa, intend to enrol in school in 2025, or are enrolled in a public university or TVET college and match the following criteria, you are eligible for an NSFAS bursary:

SASSA grant recipients
South African citizens or permanent residents
Candidates whose annual gross household income combined is not greater than R350 000
individuals with disabilities whose annual gross family income is not greater than R600,000.
Both a cell phone number and email address are required.

Other documents that may be required, if applicable

Retrenchment letter
Death certificate/s
Divorce Decree
Proof of legal guardianship
Marriage certificate

How To Apply For The 2025 Nsfas Funds

Follow the process below to apply online for the NSFAS:

Create a profile: Use this link to register for a myNSFAS account: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or get the NSFAS App from the App Store or Google Play. Your username will be your ID number.
Apply now: To amend your personal information and upload the supporting documents for your application, click the “Apply” option.
