The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Online Application 2025 academic season has been released. Application is said to open from 1 September 2024 to 30 November 2024. Therefore, all South African citizens planning to pursue their higher education level and are not in good stand financially can apply for NSFAS 2025 as soon as applications are open

The management at the government bursary scheme has announce publicly for the first time its plans to manage the 2025 NSFAS application period. Who Qualifies for NSFAS 2025 Loans

If you want to apply for NSFAS 2025, you must be:

• Students from poor and working-class backgrounds
• Student or individuals who fall within the missing middle.
• If your household income threshold is R350,000 per annum.
• Students living with disabilities with a household income of R600,000 per annum.
• Student must be registered or intend to register in an approved qualification at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

How To Apply For NSFAS 2025 Online

To apply for NSFAS Online, follow the procedure below

1. Go to www.nsfas.org.za
2. Click on the “myNSFAS” tab.
3. Create a myNSFAS account.
4. Click on the “APPLY” tab
5. Complete the sections on the screen.
6. Upload required supporting documents
7. Click on “Submit” to send your application for review

Documents Needed For NSFAS Application 2025

Please, provide the following supporting documents for your online application process:

• Your latest academic results.
• Proof of your home address.
• Disability certificate (if applicable).
• A copy of your ID or birth certificate.
• A completed and signed consent form.
• ID copies of parents/guardian/spouses (if applicable).
• Proof of income (for all household members) such as payslips, or a pension letter.

What Do I Do After NSFAS Online Application for 2025

Once you have submitted your NSFAS application for the 2025 academic year, NSFAS will assess your application to check whether you qualify for funding. Students who fail the NSFAS bursary household income automatically check will be assessed for an NSFAS student loan.

There will be a feedback for applicants who are beneficiaries of South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) grants. After the funding decision has been made, you will either be approved for funding, be required to upload supporting documents or be declined. Students who are rejected from NSFAS funding can submit an NSFAS appeal.
