NSFAS Application 2025-2026 Online Application
Applying for financial aid through NSFAS is a critical step for students who need financial support for the 2025-2026 academic year. The website for the NSFAS Online Application for the 2025-2026 academic year is still accessible, and new applications are still being accepted. They have set January 31, 2025, as the formal closing date for the initiative. Applicants who have not yet enrolled through the myNSFAS students site and would like financial help from any of the approved Tvet Colleges and Universities under the program should do so with all required documentation.
NSFAS Application 2025-2026 Online Application Date
The online application period for new applicants via the myNSFAS Student portal is scheduled to open from November 2024 to January 31, 2025. It is advised that new applicants submit their online applications for the 2025 NSFAS academic year on time and with all required materials.
Who Qualifies for NSFAS funding 2025-2026?
- South African citizens or permanent residents
- SASSA grant recipients
- Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
- Persons living with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
What does the bursary cover?
Amounts indicated for accommodation, living allowance, transport, and learning materials need to be aligned with the approved latest DHET guidelines.
UNIVERSITY
- Accommodation As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500 per annum
- Living allowance R15, 000 per annum
- Book allowances R5200 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences
TVET
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum
Documents required for NSFAS online application
NSFAS bursary Academic Criteria
For NSFAS money to study at a TVET college, you must have completed Grades 9 through 12, and for funding to study at a university or TVET college, you must have completed Grade 12. Before receiving any support from NSFAS if your application is accepted, you must fulfil the university’s or TVET college’s academic admission standards

- Proof of legal guardianship
- Marriage certificate
