How Do I Receive My NSFAS 2025-2026?

The 2025-2026 academic year requires a thorough application and grant release process to be eligible for NSFAS financing. Steps to an effective funding process include being informed, following deadlines, and completing requirements. A major factor in allowing numerous South African students to go to higher education is the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

Knowing how to apply for NSFAS funding is essential for the 2025-2026 school year. You can make cash withdrawals and/or purchases at any NSFAS-registered merchant using your NSFAS Wallet. The amount of your allowance is decided after consulting with the relevant institutions and is shared with NSFAS upon registration. To make sure you go through this process without any problems, here is a step-by-step instruction.

Understanding NSFAS Wallet

Students who are NSFAS-funded and meet the requirements for direct NSFAS allowances will have cash deposited into their NSFAS Wallets. You can make cash withdrawals and/or purchases at any NSFAS-registered merchant using your NSFAS Wallet. The amount of your allowance is decided after consulting with the relevant institutions and is shared with NSFAS upon registration

  • You will receive a “Welcome” SMS from NSFAS telling you to authenticate your NSFAS Wallet account after it has been created.
  • We will deposit your funds using the cell phone number you gave NSFAS when you applied, so make sure you always have access to it.
  • You can take out cash at any of our cash withdrawal locations, including Checkers, Boxer, U-Save, and some Spar stores. Keep in mind that these stores have R200–R1000 daily cash withdrawal limitations.
  • There is no cap on how much you can spend at a registered store—you can spend all the money in your cash wallet.

What you need to use the NSFAS Wallet to get your NSFAS allowances

  • Your cell phone and valid SIM card
  • You must sign your NSFAS Bursary Agreement if you are a new student to NSFAS
  • You will not need to withdraw cash to pay your landlord or any registered merchant.

How to get started (1st-time users) to receive your NSFAS

  1. Get an SMS extending a warm welcome to NSFAS Wallet.
  2. Dial *120*176# to verify your account, then enter your ID number in the response.
  3. You will be given a password to use for transactions. Keep in mind that anyone who knows your password can access or spend your money, therefore you must always keep it secure. It is recommended that you alter your password to something more secure and memorable and log in to Celbux.appspot.com using your five-digit password.
  4. Never save or maintain your password on your phone, and always lock the screen of your phone with a PIN or password.
