NSFAS Unisa 2025 Application date
2024 NSFAS applications are now open and will close on 31st January 2025. Applicants are urged to submit their applications before the closing date, as late applications may not be considered for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Who is eligible to Apply For the NSFAS UNISA Application
- SASSA grant recipients
- South African citizens or permanent residents
- Candidates whose annual gross household income combined is not greater than R350 000
- individuals with disabilities whose annual gross family income is not greater than R600,000.
- Both a cell phone number and email address are required.
Who should not apply for Unisa NSFAS Application
- received NSFAS funding in 2023
- have already completed an undergraduate degree or diploma.
- are not South African citizens.
- need funding for a Short Learning Certificate or Programme or a postgraduate qualification.
UNISA 2025 NSFAS Application Procedure
For the registration dates, please visit the Unisa website:www.unisa.ac.za/Apply. To Apply, follow the steps below;
- Create a profile:
Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Your ID number will be your username.
- Apply now:
Click on the “Apply’ tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.
- Complete:
Submit your application

Please visit the Unisa registration website for the registration dates: www.unisa.ac.za/register
- Returning NSFAS students who were funded in 2023 but have not yet completed their qualification: Please ensure that you are temporarily registered during Unisa’s registration period while waiting for NSFAS funding confirmation for the 2023 academic year.
- Returning NSFAS students who received funding in 2023, have been declined for funding in 2024 but have appealed the decision: Please pay the minimum registration fee while you wait for the NSFAS appeal decision if you choose to do so.
- First-time NSFAS applicants: Please ensure that you are temporarily registered during Unisa’s registration period while waiting for NSFAS funding confirmation. If your NSFAS application is declined or delayed by the time the registration period closes, you will be expected to find alternative funding before your registration is activated
